A Wikipedia Legacy and Heritage

 A Wikipedia Legacy and Heritage

United States President Joe Biden just concluded his Farewell Address from the White House Oval Office in Washington D.C. Recently, the 119th U.S. Congress has convened and certified the election results with former President Donald Trump winning the November 2024 Electoral College and has retaken the White House. Additionally, former President Jimmy Carter has recently passed and funeral ceremonies were held in Washington D.C. and his home State of Georgia.

This is my first blog post of the new year 2025. In addition to writing blog posts I also keep and maintain various copies of the Wikipedia Database. These various system-local Wikipedia Databases can be accessed without internet and do not need any cell-phone connections. They are particularly useful in areas where phone, internet, electricity, radio and television transmissions, or other critical infrastructure are unavailable or unreliable. I can provide a working offline Wikipedia Database for almost any popular off-the-shelf PC, smart phone, or other handheld devices and form-factors.

In digital electronic format, the current English Wikipedia Database is roughly equivalent to a 2,000 volume encyclopedia set, about 100 times larger than any published encyclopedia set. Using citations and referencing, the Wikipedia Database has been shown to be as accurate as any of the major published encyclopedia sets. I use the Wikipedia Database as the centerpiece of my personal multimedia digital library, supplemented with more than 2,000 e-books, multimedia software programs, and thousands of hours of music, movies, documentaries, sermons, teaching lectures, audio-books, and games.

The Wikipedia Database is especially useful for studies in the liberal arts; such as philosophy, religion, history, and literature. Wikipedia is good for politics, and basic information on businesses and economies. The Wikipedia Database is great for research on books, movies, television shows, and music. Public Domain Day, celebrated two weeks ago on January 1st, is a great time to download royalty-free content with expired copyrights. You will certainly need go outside of the Wikipedia Database for anything relating to the fine arts or hard sciences that require downloading large datasets or other material with heavy audio-visual content.

The Wikipedia Database is divided into linked articles by language. I regularly maintain versions of the Wikipedia Database in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Ukrainian. Much of the histories and legacies of these respective peoples can only be expressed in their native tongue and language, and is wonderful for anyone who travels. Wikipedia helps to capture the uniqueness of these different peoples in their own respective languages. Technology, such as Wikipedia, helps to break-down the language barriers that spans many continents. A linguistic Wikipedia Database distinction could also prove invaluable to researchers, in any native tongue or language.

In conclusion, elections decide the political fate of government officials here in the United States. The histories, heritage, and legacies of the many institutions and peoples, however, will be debated and discussed for years, sometimes centuries. The Wikipedia Database is a wonderful technology to help ensure their respective stories are remembered and told. With citations and references, the Wikipedia Database directs researchers, and anyone else interested, to the cited source material. Books, movies, and music in the Public Domain can be downloaded free of charge by anyone. A People’s heritage and legacy can be preserved in their own respective language with the various Wikipedia Databases.
