 Sic Semper Tyrannis

The Seal of Virginia Tech, my alma mater, prominently features an obverse of Virtue defeating Tyranny. The standing allegorical female figure of Virtue is shown having vanquished Tyranny, symbolized by a fallen king at her feet. She has an exposed breast in the manner of classical depictions of Amazons. The scene is adopted from the Flag and Seal of the State of Virginia that has its origins in the American Revolution of 1776. The motto shown on the seal, Sic Semper Tyrannis, means "Thus always to tyrants." It is only slightly ironic that Virginia is named after Queen Elizabeth I of England, who was known as the Virgin Queen because she never married.

During ancient classical times of Greece and Rome Tyrants were political leaders who seized power by illegal means, but usually enjoyed widespread support among the masses. The poor and middle-classes of ancient Greece and Rome preferred Tyrants to the ruling monarchs or aristocracy. Nevertheless, by late antiquity Tyrants were viewed as an opposition to freedom and liberty, and Tyranny took on the meaning and definition we understand it to mean today. 

Today is Memorial Day 2025 here in the United States, where Americans remember the military veterans fallen in battle. The tyranny of Qualified Immunity, and the Tyrants who support and promote the legal doctrine of Qualified Immunity, present a clear and present danger to the continuity of the Republic, and bring dishonor to the memory of those war dead. The legal doctrine of Qualified Immunity is the single greatest threat to American Civil Liberties and Financial Security in more than 100 years.

In my hometown of Front Royal, Virginia the government leaders used Qualified Immunity, and other legal trickery, to rob the citizenry of $100 million, using an assortment of fake paper-front businesses and back-room shady land deals. The current $37 trillion debt-level of Washington D.C. is almost entirely due to the waste, fraud, and abuse of Qualified Immunity. For the first time in a century, Moody's Credit Rating Agency recently downgraded the U.S. Government's credit worthiness, making the decision unanimous among all the major credit-rating agencies. 

Folks, I honestly believe the legal doctrine of Qualified Immunity will be eliminated from American Jurisprudence, and those who have used Qualified Immunity to rob and victimize the American Citizenry these past decades will be brought to True Justice. As in ancient times, Virtue will once again be victorious over Tyranny. Sic Semper Tyrannis.
