Christmas Holiday 2024 Interfaith Message

 Christmas Holiday 2024 Interfaith Message

The Puritan Pilgrim Baptist Separatists of the 1600’s, of which I am a descendant, did not place much emphasis on Christmas celebrations. In fact, the Puritan Pilgrims believed the Christmas celebrations of Europe to be a pagan-inspired drunken revelry of debauchery and sin, and is at least in part, why they separated from the major religious institutions of their day and came to the New World. Nevertheless, Christians around the world will celebrate Christmas this month in their own way.

Much of my professional IT experience has been in E-commerce, E-marketing, and online digital advertising. This is a very busy time of year for E-commerce. The recent Cyber Week 2024 was the biggest week for online sales, ever, with Adobe reporting $41.1 billion U.S. sales, and Salesforce reporting $314.9 billion in global sales, up 8.2% and 6% over 2023 sales, respectively.

The most interesting aspect of E-commerce, however, is the technology in use is global in nature, and encompasses many Christian Denominations and other Faith Traditions that celebrate the Winter Months holidays in their own unique ways. E-commerce and the global marketplace cannot be confined to a specific Christian Denomination or religious faith tradition. The technology involved in E-commerce is agnostic with respect to the specific religions of the buyers or sellers. Christians, Jews, Pagans, Native Americans, and New-Age Spiritualists all use the same technology to purchase gifts for their friends, family, and loved ones.

I previously worked at the E-commerce division of the internet company PSINet. I am currently a Microsoft Certified Windows Programmer. Most of my PC work meets or exceeds U.S. Government/Military standards. It is not a coincidence the E-commerce Consortium manages the top-rated White-Hat Hacking and Cyber Security Certifications. Cyber Security is vital to a successful online E-commerce business, regardless of your specific Christian Denomination or Faith Tradition.

In conclusion, I want to say a Very Merry Christmas to my fellow Christians, and to those of other Faith Traditions I wish you a Happy Holiday Season. I hope your Winter Months are safe, happy, and joyous.
